What is New Media TV?

New Media TV is just what it sounds like: A TV station that uses new media and Web 2.0 technologies to bring programming to the SPN network.

How do I tune in?

Tuning in is easy. Just come to our homepage, www.newmedia.org, and watch the show at the announced time. There is no software to install and no hassles just live streaming video.

But I can’t see anything.

Streaming video is not perfect. If you have a very old computer, or a very slow Internet connection, then live streaming video is not for you. Try viewing the programming at another location, or on a newer computer if you can’t see the video.

What if I have a question for the presenter?

During the Q&A session in each episode, all you have to do is type your question into the chat window to the right of the video screen. Choose your handle, then type a question. The presenter will do his or her best to answer as many questions as possible.

This is so cool! I want everyone at my Organization to watch, but it keep crashing. What gives?

If you want everyone at your organization to watch a live video show, it is best to do this on one or two computers at a time. The trouble is that video uses lots of Internet bandwidth and if you have many computers on the same Internet connection trying to use all the bandwidth at once, then something will stop working.

I just thought of a way I can use technology like this for my organization! How hard is it to set up?

New Media TV uses the www.mogulus.com technology and displays it through a www.wordpress.com blog. Both systems are free to use and relatively easy to set up. Just stick your in-house tech person on this, or contact us for a tech guru recommendation and you should be ready to go in almost no time!
